In September 2025, The Museum of Broken Dreams launched in Parliament as a one week exhibition, presented by the We’re Right Here campaign. Abby+Owen were commissioned to design, illustrate and deliver the exhibition.
It shared the stories of community led projects that could have transformed places across the UK but were blocked not by lack of vision or skill, but by bureaucracy and red tape. As two working class northerners who have seen grassroots projects stalled by the same structural barriers, it was a real privilege to bring these stories into the heart of Parliament.
The exhibition identity we created holds both loss and possibility. The BD monogram forms a broken heart, yet within the fracture sits a spark, a lightning bolt of potential. It is a reminder that even broken dreams still contain hope, and that within the break there is still charge enough to bring people back together with a renewed purpose.
For each story, we created a bespoke illustrated visual metaphor that distilled complex policy failure into a single, arresting image. A garden that never grew, a centre that burned bright and brief, a housing solution without a home. Each artwork was paired with a bold statement hook, a line designed to stop viewers in their tracks and pull them into the human reality behind the headline.
“Their attention to detail and commitment to quality truly stood out. We’ve already recommended them to others.”
